On March 20, 2013 the Cisco and Web Design Students went on a trip to visit Queens Borough Community College. On this trip we were able to see many things and meet new people. There are a lot of interesting things about this college although its only a 2 year college. We got a tour of the campus and we saw different aspects of the college. At the end of the tour we were able to get our picture taken for our college ID.
One of the interesting things about QCC is the technology. They have a vast variety of computers. There is a Robotics lab. QCC has about 16 Labs in the entire college. The class sizes range from about 25-40 students. Another thing that caught my attention was the number of vending machines they have in their school ITHS has about 2 or 3 while QCC has about double or triple that amount. We met two professors in the college Professor Stuart M. Asser and Professor Vincent Stigliano. They welcomed us and gave us a tour of some of the classes to show us what the students were working on.
Being in QCC for a day taught me several things. One thing this experience taught me was that as juniors we don't have that much time to make a decision about college. We have to start planning now because time is running out and by the time senior year comes it will be too late. I also learned that doing well is high school is imperative in order to get into the best college. This is why I try so hard to get the best average I can get. So far I'm planning on going to a music college but if I don't do well in high school with my academics that can set me back and ruin my chances of getting admitted. I want to be the best that I can be so I always try to give 110% because what I do now will alter my future in one way or another.
This my first time being on a college and I never expected to learn so much in one day I was very elated to have this experience. Visiting QCC persuades me to go and explore other colleges i haven't been too. Its the smart thing to do because wherever I go will affect who I am ten years from now. I want to make sure I make the best of these opportunities I'm given so I can be successful and make my parents proud.
